Creative ways to use wax food wraps
Beeswax food wraps can be used for a multitude of things. While the common use is for food beeswax wraps are a lot more diverse and are great for things you have probably never considered. Since we are all about sustainability some of these creative ideas will help you use a lot less plastic. What is not to love about that.
We put our heads together and came up with the following:
Wrap flower stems and avoid using a plastic bag to catch unwanted drips.
Make them into food pouches rather than using zip lock bags
Cover food when dining outside
Use large wraps to make origami boxes to put treats in for when you’re driving e.g., almonds, carrots etc.
Make some popcorn pouches and snuggle up on the couch with your favourite movie
You can roll out your pasta dough or shortcrust pastry dough on a beeswax wrap (be sure to sprinkle with a little bit of flour first)
Use to cover rising bread dough and fermenting foods such as yoghurt, kombucha and buttermilk.
They are also handy for opening jars.
You can use a wrap to protect toothbrushes or wrap up bars of soap for travelling (or camping).
Wrap your specialty cheeses in them
Line the shelves or bins in your fridge
Using beeswax wraps for other purposes is a simple first step on your sustainability journey. They can be used multiple times and are easy to care for - just rinse in cold water, hang to dry and re-use!
